Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

I don’t usually make these since it takes far too much organization and that is definitely not my forte. However, it’s a TTT topic so here we are. This isn’t really a comprehensive list, but rather the first few 2019 releases that I found when I went to write this list in the order that I’d like to read them most. Basically, I’m just far too lazy to go searching for all the ones I’m desperate to read right now.

10. When the Truth Unravels by Ruthanne Snow

Secrets, secrets, secrets. That’s what comes to mind when I think about this book and while mysteries aren’t usually my thing, I’m actually curious about this one. The discussion of mental illness that is implied to come with this book is one that I find to be important and I hope it’s handled well in the novel. The only way for me to be sure, however, is to read the book.

9. Brief Chronicle of Another Stupid Heartbreak by Adi Alsaid

This book honestly just sounds super cute. All about studying a couple in love and therefore learning about love oneself as a result, I think that there’s a lot to come out of this book because while you can get some sort of idea from the synopsis, it definitely is somewhat contradictory to the title. I’m very curious to see where this book will end and exactly whose heart will break.

8. I Wish You All the Best by Mason Deaver

I really want to read this book. As one of the few that I’ve seen about a non-binary character and their navigation of the world, this is one of those books that will be so impactful and important to people who’ve had the misfortune to not experience true representation for a long time. I hope that this book does really well and I cannot wait to get my hands on a copy of my own.

7. Four Dead Queens by Astrid Scholte

Ironically I’ve had Four Dead Queens on my TBR for a long time without even knowing what it was about. After reading the synopsis (finally), I know I’m truly exceptionally excited to read this one. Barring the fact that it just sounds like a really amazing and fun read, it also sounds like it’s going to be exceptionally well written. Now, that’s not something I’d normally assume based on a book’s blurb alone, but I have a feeling about this one.

6. In an Absent Dream by Seanan McGuire

Hello feminist novel. I always appreciate a good book that discusses women’s politics, though I think the thing that sold me on this particular book was the bit about a world based on logic and riddles and the like. I don’t think enough people focus on logic nowadays as emotions are such a strong determination of actions and thoughts…and frankly, with the world we’re living in and the people that were voted into office in 2016, it’s clear that a lot of people don’t even understand how to logic. So yeah, I wanna read this book.

5. The Similars by Rebecca Hanover

This one is just a really amazing sounding story about clones and death with a mixture of grief and love. And I dunno, I just think it will be an amazing book. I’ve wanted to read it for a while now, just haven’t had a chance to get my hands on a copy. But it’s coming out soon–or may be out already, I think it might have come out on the first–and I can’t wait to read it.

4. The Testaments by Margaret Atwood

Obviously this one is going to be on my list. I actually think I should probably do a reread of The Handmaid’s Tale before I pick this book up because it’s been quite some time since I actually read it through entirely–though I’ve read bits and pieces recently since one of my students was reading it–and before I find out what happened to Offred after, I have to remember everything that happened to her before.

3. Darkdawn by Jay Kristoff

I fell in love with Nevernight quite some time ago and therefore could not be more thoroughly excited for this third–and final, right?–piece of the story. I really want to know what happened after the events of the second book and, I’ll be honest, I’m still kind of holding out for the possibility that the thing that happened to Tric in the very first book is learned to have not happened (avoiding spoilers is hard, lol). I dunno if that’s a realistic hope or not, though, since it wasn’t even addressed in the second novel.

2. The Everlasting Rose by Dhonielle Clayton

I’ll hopefully have read this by the time this TTT comes around–I have an ARC and I’m scheduling this post–but this is definitely one of my most anticipated 2019 releases. As it should be, really. And if it’s not one of yours, you are definitely missing out. Due to publish in March, this sequel to Clayton’s fantastic and impressive social commentary from the world of The Belles is definitely a book to keep on your radar.

1. The Princess and the Fangirl by Ashley Poston

I’m honestly quite desperate to read this one. I keep hoping that I’ll be approved on Edelweiss or Netgalley and come to find that I’m not. And then, of course, I’ve been scouring Twitter for someone willing to trade–haven’t found anyone just yet, though–so basically I just really wanna read this book. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to, soon. I don’t mind waiting til the release date, but at the same time it feels like such a painfully long wait.
