I am so torn on whether or not I will actually be reading Slayer by Kiersten White. On the one hand, I think it’d be really cool to do especially since I have a friend who is in love with Buffy the Vampire Slayer. But then, I’ve never actually seen the show so maybe I’d be better off simply buying the book for her and leaving the reading of this one to the pros. I’m curious, but I don’t know if I’m curious enough to spend a bunch of time binge-watching the television show in order to understand a bit more about the world in which this book is set. And I just don’t know if it’s really all that possible to read this book without doing so. In its own way, to do that would be kind of blasphemous anyhow.

But the plot sounds interesting. The characters seem adequate. I think it’s a story I might like. I don’t think I would love it, of course. This sort of story is definitely far more up my friend’s alley than mine. And who knows, maybe if I buy it for her and have her read it she’ll be able to convince me it’s worth my time as well. And I guess I should really start watching Buffy at some point. I’m twenty-six, I definitely should have seen it by now.
