One of my favorite things to do on this blog is to feature other book bloggers and bring attention to some of the amazing things they’ve written themselves. And I know we all typically do our own monthly wrap ups (I completely fell apart on mine last year, I’ll be honest) where we talk about how our reading goals went over the course of the month and which books we enjoyed vs the ones we didn’t, which is fantastic. But I wanted to take a moment to showcase some of my fellow book bloggers’ favorite reads of the month.

And, hopefully, if you have some time you can check out their blogs or review for those very books. I’d especially suggest doing so if it’s a book you’ve been considering reading!

The first blog and book I’m featuring is from Angry Old Man Reviews Books whose favorite read of January were the books of the Harry Potter series that he read at the request of his granddaughter. Spoiler for you guys, he loved them!

The next blog and book is from Vada @ Ramblings of a Neurotic Writer whose favorite book this month was Reasons to Stay Alive by Matt Haig regarding mental health, anxiety, and depression. From what I can tell so far, this book sounds incredibly useful.

I actually really want to read White Stag by Kara Barbieri and so I was really excited to see that it was Makayla Sophia‘s favorite book this month! And you can just tell that she is super excited about this book. I can’t wait to read it and I’m really glad I got to check out her review (you should too!).

And while Amanda @ Devouring Books doesn’t have a review up for her favorite book of the year–she’s trying to get it published in a literary magazine (good luck!)–her most loved read is Crown of Feathers by Nicki Pau Preto. This is the first I’ve heard of this book, but you can bet I’m going to check it out. Also, drop by Amanda’s blog for a bit to give her some support!

I’ve been looking forward to reading The Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi and it was the favorite read of Athena @ The Night Faerie for the month of January! She’s written a pretty amazing review for it and I would definitely suggest checking it out, especially if you’ve heard of the book!

A long title and a long author’s name, Amanda @ Between the Shelves has a review for you all to check out for her favorite read of January: The Past and Other Things that Should Be Buried by Shaun David Hutchinson. I’m glad she came across this book because I’ve found a new one to add to my TBR as a result!

There’s a lot of raving praise going on in Candice @ Magnolia Reads‘s review for her favorite read of January. Friends Like These by Sarah Alderson is a psychological thriller that kept her up all through the night to finish and so if you’re a thriller fan, I would definitely suggest checking out her review!

Esmée @ Ezzie’s Bookshelf dropped by with a review for Bloodleaf by Crystal Smith that makes a book I wasn’t sure about sound like something I need to read this very instant. It’s her favorite read of January and it’s definitely one worth checking out. 

Ara @ Open Pages reviewed her favorite January read, The Descendant of the Crane by Joan He. From what I can tell from her review, this book couldn’t be more fantastic if the author tried. I got my hands on a small sample of this book and I can say I’m inclined to agree with Ara. Check out her review before you leave!

I’m not 100% sure if The Wind Up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami is a book for me, but damn if Mina @ Stacked didn’t do a fantastic job in convincing me to give it a chance with her amazing review for her favorite January read. In all seriousness, her review really does sell this book.

Kimberly @ KayCKay fell in love with Harry’s Trees by Jon Cohen this January. It sounds like an amazing tale about loss, grief, and healing. Definitely check out Kimberly’s review for this one to see if you’re interested!

Jen @ Bookworm hasn’t finished this book, but it looks like her favorite read of January is 84K by Claire North. While there obviously isn’t a review up on her blog yet, you should still totally stop by her blog to give her some support!

Lauren @ Lauren Gets Literary‘s favorite read of January is What if it’s Us by Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera and it’s a book I keep meaning to read. I’m pretty sure that the book is an amazing work of literature, especially after reading Lauren’s review.

I’ve heard about The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid on several occasions and it turns out this is the best January read for Ash @ Ink Trails. Definitely take a moment to check out her review today! It’s an incredibly fun and unique read (the review, I mean).

I’m not sure which book from her read the world challenge is Breath to Read‘s favorite January read, but I have to say that some of the books look really fun. Especially the cover for her most recently (at least at this moment) reviewed book. You should all definitely pop over and check it out.

Nelo @ Booked Unicorn‘s favorite January read is A Place for Wolves by Kosoko Jackson and her review is a blast to read. It includes a gif that made me laugh out loud when I saw it and I can’t help loving the inclusion.

The Day We Met by Roxie Cooper is Gem @ Beereader Books‘ favorite January read which is a book in which the main character shares my name, which was pretty cool for me to see. Gem is really in love with this book and her review praises it so much that I’m definitely going to check it out in the future.

For Bex @ Totally Bex, finding her favorite January read left her with a tough decision between Be the Girl by K. A. Tucker and The Kiss Theif by L. J. Shen. As she’s only written a review for the first book, that’s the one featured in the link here and you should definitely pop by to give it a read.

Mandy @ Off the Beaten Shelf‘s favorite read this January was The Trauma Cleaner by Sarah Krasnostein. I don’t have a review for you guys, but you can still check out her blog to give her some support!

For Tan @ Booknerdtan, her favorite January read was The Girl Before by J. P. Delaney. An incredibly vivid thriller, Tan lets us know that this book really makes you feel as though you are there with the characters which is definitely something to appreciate about a novel. Check out her review if you’re interested!

Shreeya @ Absorbed in Books loved The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. She hasn’t written her review for it yet but is planning to in the next week, so I’d definitely suggest keeping an eye out for it. It’s always worthwhile to consider one’s favorite read of the month!

A book with an interestingly unique premise, Decorating a Room of One’s Own by Susan Harlan was Marie @ MarieMcWilliams‘s favorite read of January. It’s a book that interviews characters from classic literature about interior design, something I never imagined I’d see in a book but definitely leaves me curious to know more.

For Cris @ The Biblio Blonde the best book of January was I’d Rather Be Reading by Anne Bogel. Her first book of the year, this is the sort of collection that will resonate with just about any reader. And you only have to read Cris’ review to understand why.

Say You’re Sorry by Karen Rose is Joy @ HEA Novel Thoughts‘ best January read. It’s a romantic suspense novel, so take a moment to picture what that looks like and then go check out her review because it really gives you some wonderful insight into the story. It actually sounds pretty fantastic.

Sandy’s review is actually coming from her Goodreads account and is for the book The Wolf and the Watchman by Niklas Natt och Dag. What appears to be a rather dark novel, it’s definitely one worth reading a review for to see if it’s for you.

As for me, skipping the rereads because that’s not exactly fair, my favorite January read was surprising in a lot of ways. One of those was is merely the small fact that Consent by Donna Freitas is not a fiction novel but instead an account of a young woman’s experience with the gross stalking behavior of her Professor while trying to earn her PhD. It’s a really in-depth picture of consent and 100% a book that many people should read.
