If I’m understanding this correctly, The Music of What Happens is a book about two boys meeting on a food truck that they work for–or maybe they both just really like the food?–and fall in love. I don’t want to be the kind of person who only reads this book because the characters are a more diverse cast when I wouldn’t normally pick up a book with that kind of synopsis anyway. Basically, I’m not sure if I want to watch this and I don’t quite know why. I think it largely comes down to the fact that I avoid books that are solely based on romance at all costs 90% of the time. So, I don’t know if I’ll read this one. I’m somewhat against doing so because I’d simply rather read a fantasy novel. But the thing that stops me, just a little, is the fact that the diversion of thought opportunities aren’t as large as they should be and until books like these are incredibly common, should I be skipping them?
I’ll likely end up adding this to my TBR and hopefully I’ll end up liking it a lot more than I’m anticipating. I mean, not all romance focused novels are terrible as far as my opinion goes, just most of them. So, we’ll see what this one is like and whether or not it fits the bill for the sort I’d enjoy or the sort I’d regret ever having picked up.
What do you think about this book? Is it on your TBR? Not? Let me know in the comments!
I’m so glad to see this post! The description doesn’t necessarily draw me in, but I really loved an earlier book by this author (Openly Straight) and think he’s really talented and creates amazing characters, so I’ll want to check this out.
