the navigatorSo, with the cover reveal yesterday and my own personal massive amount of excitement about this book (and the fact that I’m finally allowed to scream about it publicly), it seemed rather fitting that I feature it for my cover love Friday feature today. Honestly, how could I not? If you’ve taken even the slightest glance at this cover, you’ll know that there’s no question that it deserves a place here. So, for today I am featuring a cover that I got to watch the development of, for The Navigator by Erin Michelle Sky and Steven Brown. The sequel to The Wendy, this is a book I’ve been excited for literally since January of last year.

Now, to breaking down this gorgeous cover and all the wonderful things about it. The first, and most striking in my opinion, is and forever will be Wendy Darling herself as she remains the center focus of this cover just as she was for the last one. I can’t help but feel exceedingly jealous of her attire, coat and collar something I’ve definitely been in love with forever and deeply appreciate seeing on her. Also, those gloves are so beautiful. Peter and Hook both make an appearance on this cover as well and I adore them just as much as I did the first time. They’re both quite broody looking, too, aren’t they? Admittedly, you don’t see a broody Peter often within the novel since his brooding moments flit by so quickly, but it’s definitely still wonderful on the cover.

Also, look closely or you might miss Captain Hook’s most well known feature.

I absolutely love the compass and dragon as well. And a rare thing for me, I’m also quite impressed and fond of the text. Typically that is usually where my love for a cover goes, but the cover artist for this series really does know how to work with text. The title is a brilliant gold that helps the cover and the name really pop for anyone who looks at it. And of course the author’s names are well-placed as well as the perfect size and font.

What are your thoughts on this cover? What do you like / love most? What do you dislike or possibly hate (I’ll try my best not to cry)? Is there anything you see that maybe I missed talking about? Let me know in the comments! And, as always, happy reading everyone!
