Ironically, despite the fact that I do recognize Daughter of the Pirate King by Tricia Levenseller as a well-written book, I just did not like it at all. And I think what it came down to for me was character voice. I could not get past how much I hated Alosa. She was massively annoying in so many ways and frankly spent so much of her time bantering with the stupid first mate, Riden, who I also didn’t like, that I couldn’t even get interested in the story. Ultimately, my hatred for all the characters really just made the plot obsolete.

Daughter of the Pirate King follows Alosa as she sets out to get an ancient map for her father from another prominent pirate family. She is captured according to her plan and held for ransom, meanwhile planning to steal the map right from beneath the Captain and his First Mate’s nose.

This book has been talked about a lot, so there’s a good chance that you’ve probably already read it.
