Malice [Pintip Dunn]; 2020 YA Releases

I am one hundred percent certain that, if Malice by Pintip Dunn is written well, it is going to be phenomenal. This book’s premise is blended with deep emotion and morally correct decisions and I could not be more excited to read it. In fact, the second I found out that it wasn’t being published in 2019 and instead was getting pushed back to 2020 (it’s coming out next month!), I wanted to scream and sob all at once. The truth is that I need this book in my life and I am going to be forever upset until I get my hands on a copy. I was literally three seconds from pre-ordering it a year ago and the only thing that stopped me was that it wasn’t available. I could have screamed. And that would have been bad because I was surrounded by co-workers at the time. My life.

So, someone from the future has contacted a girl from the past to ask her to kill a boy in her school who would later release a virus that will decimate the population of the world. This is the premise. And it’s fantastic. I am such a sucker for this idea, I’ve written my own stories with this premise, I fell in love with Cristin Terrill’s All Our Yesterdays because it had such a similar thought. And I’m dying to get my hands on this one, largely for that last line in the synopsis.

“…because now they’ve drawn a target on the only boy I’ve ever loved…”

Waiting for this book is going to kill me. What a test of patience, I swear.

What I know: a student in my school will one day wipe out two-thirds of the population with a virus.

What I don’t know: who it is.

In a race against the clock, I not only have to figure out their identity, but I'll have to outwit a voice from the future telling me to kill them. Because I'm starting to realize no one is telling the truth. But how can I play chess with someone who already knows the outcome of my every move? Someone so filled with malice she's lost all hope in humanity? Well, I'll just have to find a way―because now she's drawn a target on the only boy I've ever loved...
