I don’t usually post these in the available on NetGalley posts because they’re not full books, but as I thought about it recently I realized that thinking was kind of silly. The thing is, I love samplers. I almost always request them (and have broken my ban for it) because they’re quick reads that you can review fast as well. You don’t have to commit to a full book and if you don’t like it, well, then you say so and don’t have to finish reading the rest of it.

I’ve said so before, but samplers are fantastic for helping you catch up with your NetGalley ratio and give it a little boost. I’ll admit, this definitely fuels my desire to request them. A quick read and a quick review later and I’ve gained some percentage points. I’ll request books that I’m not even sure I’ll like if it’s a sampler because it gives me an opportunity to not only test the waters, so to speak, to see if I’ll like a book I might not have otherwise picked up.

This particular sampler is for a book that sounds utterly adorable, so there’s a bonus for me!

As two neighborhood shop owners battle for business, they prove opposites attract in this outrageously funny romantic comedy from the USA Today bestselling author of Meet Cute.

Blaire Calloway has planned every Instagram-worthy moment of her cupcake and cocktails shop launch down to the tiniest detail. What she didn’t plan on? Ronan Knight and his old-school sports bar next door opening on the very same day. He may be super swoony, but Blaire hasn’t spent years obsessing over buttercream and bourbon to have him ruin her chance at success.

From axe throwing (his place) to frosting contests (hers), Blaire and Ronan are constantly trying to one-up each other in a battle to win new customers. But with every clash, there’s also an undeniable chemistry. When an even bigger threat to their business comes to town, they’re forced to call a temporary time-out on their own war and work together. And the more time Blaire spends getting to know the real Ronan, the more she wonders if it’s possible to have her cupcake and eat it too.
