It seems I’ve been on a bit of a theme streak lately, but these covers are just too pretty to pass up. And so here we are with yet another Beauty and the Beast retelling, this time for a middlegrade novel that I actually had to put down and DNF because I just couldn’t get into it. I can’t recall anymore just what it was about this book that I hated so much, but I can tell you that it was, without question, not the cover that I didn’t like. And I think pretty much all of you could agree with me on that one, yeah? This cover, so much, makes me wish that I had enjoyed reading the book. I mean, honestly…wouldn’t that book look amazing on your shelf? Isn’t it the sort of thing you’d want to showcase in a booktube video? And to all your friends? Yeah. Me too.
Anyway, I can’t really pinpoint a single thing that I don’t like about this book cover. Belle is exceptionally portrayed, immersed in a swirl of magic that spins around her and those gorgeous bookshelves she’s standing in front of. There’s what I think is a clock up on the mantle, another utterly wonderful piece to the cover. And then she’s standing in front of a roaring fireplace that I just know I would love to curl up next to so I could read on a cold winter night. It’s a small thing, but I also just love that floor. The text is placed perfectly and therefore I have no complaint. I especially love the color. The only thing that is missing from this cover is a beautiful, large armchair to curl up in.
How do you feel about this cover? Does it draw you in or no? Do you think you’d pick this book up simply based off of the cover? What do you love most? Dislike most? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
