And just as soon as the week begins, it ends again. And with the end of the week comes my favorite post series ever, cover love Friday! This week I’ve decided to feature the cover for a book I’m actually currently reading, something I find rather exciting. Of course, Briar and Rose and Jack does not come out until next year, but that doesn’t mean I’m not going to thoroughly admire it’s rather wonderful cover here. What a waste it would be to wait.
There’s a lot to love about this cover, really, from the two princesses–in particular, the utter awesomeness of the shield and sword held in Briar’s hands–to Jack climbing the beanstalk in the background. Even the giant, though quite ugly in his menacing demeanor, is pretty awesome. Add in the kingdom in the background, the cool beanstalk, and the awesome way with which the title is displayed, this cover is pretty phenomenal.
I don’t know how much I like the text of the author’s name and I think perhaps that could have been blended more adequately, but it’s a small grievance in comparison to everything that is going well with this cover that it’s hardly something to focus on. I definitely love this as a middle-grade cover and am continuing my jealousy over the fact that middle-grade always seems to get the best and most colorful ones.
As always, happy reading. And happy Friday as well!
