sherwoodThe cover of Sherwood by Meagan Spooner is probably half the reason why I wanted to read this book so much. Naturally the other half comes from the fact that I adore Robin Hood with every ounce of my heart and I cannot express enough how much his story means to me. And so that’s really why it’s such a massive shame that this book ended horribly. Worse, it kind of ended up being a massive insult to Robin Hood in the end, breaking my heart and ultimately resulting in me having no desire to buy a copy for myself.

However, that doesn’t take away from how utterly gorgeous and breathtaking this cover actually is. I mean, honestly, just look at it! In so many ways, you just can’t help but adore Marian’s depiction here. The way she’s holding the bow, the bracers and the green of her dress. Her hood. Even the hair that’s blowing out of her hood in the wind. And then the view of the countryside, Nottingham itself. It’s so amazingly done and I fell in love with it the very first instant that I saw it.

I even love the text, and as many of you probably know by now that’s one of the pieces that I usually end up hating about most books.

What are your thoughts on this cover? Do you like the coloring? The countryside? Marian’s dress? Her bow (which is so amazingly well-done, imo)? The text? Let me know in the comments! I hope you all have a great weekend of reading!
