I love this cover. Then again, I love just about anything with an incredibly adorable fox on it. This fox is just gorgeously drawn and it honestly just makes me want to cry a little bit. I’d buy this book for the cover alone. Now, obviously I’m rather focused on the fox here as it does happen to be my favorite piece of it, the rest of the cover is equally fun to look at. I find the wolf mixed with girl head quite interesting and just creepy enough to really grab my attention. The small bird resting on her robes is a curious inclusion and it makes me genuinely fascinated with the choice. I admit, I’d probably be a little disappointed if the bird isn’t relevant to the story in some way, whether it be a metaphor or an actual character.
I don’t quite know if I fully like the text placement on this one, at least for the title of the story. I think the author’s name is in a good font and place. I guess I just don’t care for the font, because I don’t think the placement is all that terrible. But something about it doesn’t mesh well with the fantastic cover art behind it.
Either way, at the end of the day I’m incredibly pleased with this cover if only largely due to the fact that I’ve just fallen in love with that fox.
What do you think of this cover? Love it? Hate it? Is the book itself a good read? Let me know in the comments!
