Hi everyone! So I’ve decided to open the voting for the April Readalong early so that I can start the giveaway before the end of the month in order to ensure that winners will be able to receive the next month’s book sooner (if they choose it) in order to start April’s Readalong on time.
And so I would like to officially open voting for the April Reader Fox Readalong! As always, there is a choice of four different books to choose from, all of which are picked by me based on my ability to get ahold of a copy for myself so that I can lead the readalong quarterly discussions. If you would like to, you may nominate a specific book that is not listed here for the readalong and I can consider it based on whether or not I’ll be able to get a copy that month.
The current nominees are:
The Wendy by Erin Michelle Sky and Steven Brown
“Accompanied by a reimagined cast of the original Peter Pan, Wendy soon discovers that her dreams are as far away as ever, that choosing sides isn’t as simple as she thought, and that the only man who isn’t blinded by her gender… might be her nation’s greatest enemy.”
Now, I’m sure a lot of you are well aware that I have already read this book, but the truth is that I really want an excuse to reread it already. It’s been over a month, so I think it’s fair to say this is a reasonable choice. Plus, I just love talking about this book and would be thrilled to write weekly updates as I read the book again. I also truly believe that a great many of you would deeply enjoy reading this one. Plus, I would just love to host a giveaway for this wonderful book. So, it’s an option.
The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller
“Patroclus, an awkward young prince, has been exiled to the court of King Peleus and his perfect son Achilles. Despite their difference, Achilles befriends the shamed prince, and as they grow into young men skilled in the arts of war and medicine, their bond blossoms into something deeper – despite the displeasure of Achilles’ mother Thetis, a cruel sea goddess.”
I’ve had this on the voting list a few times now as a choice and it’s mainly because I love Greek Mythology and it’s been sitting around just waiting to be read for a while now. I haven’t managed to get to it, but I think it’d be exciting to have it as a Readalong book. And I mean, Achilles and Patroclus? What better characters could there be, really? Basically, this book genuinely just sounds like a lot of fun.
Daughter of the Pirate King by Tricia Levenseller
“There will be plenty of time for me to beat him soundly once I’ve gotten what I came for.”
Okay, so not only is the cover of this book gorgeous, but it’s about pirates. I’m pretty much sold on the idea that this book will be awesome and I’d like to read the book to prove that to myself. Hopefully, I won’t be disappointed. I’ve heard a lot of good things about this book in recent months and therefore am really excited to get started. Strong female characters, pirates, and an awesome plot? Sign me up!
American Panda by Gloria Chao
“But when Mei reconnects with her brother, Xing, who is estranged from the family for dating the wrong woman, Mei starts to wonder if all the secrets are truly worth it. Can she find a way to be herself, whoever that is, before her web of lies unravels?”
Another wonderful diverse book by a wonderful author that has had glorious reviews, American Panda is one I can’t wait to read. I love the cover, I love the premise, and from what I’ve been reading this is definitely one of those books that everyone should read at least once. I’ve got a lot of hope that I’ll really enjoy this one and I’m so happy to have noticed a lot more diverse books coming out this year. It’s really inspiring and wonderful.
So, there are our book options for next month! To vote, simply comment below with the title of the book you’d most like to read and the book with the most votes will become the April Readalong book and will be featured in the next giveaway! Voting will be open until March 21st!
