So, I kind of missed Author Sunday this week, but I still wanted to do a post. Getting out and actually having a busy weekend has completely thrown everything off kilter for me, but I definitely wouldn’t change it. And now it’s time to celebrate a phenomenal author who not only has lasted the trials of time but helped paved a path for a lot of female authors to come. I’m so immeasurably grateful that Jane Austen existed and so I wanted to take a few minutes to celebrate her and the works of literature she has given us.
Now, I don’t think anyone can ever really mention Jane Austen without bringing up Pride and Prejudice, which I believe is her most successful book. It’s also my favorite for a great many reasons. And while I’m quite glad that marriage does not exist today as it did back then, there’s something wonderful in this story about two people who overcome their own shortcomings in order to be the best person they can be with the person they love.
Austen has written a great number of books, and I will shamefully admit that I haven’t read them all. My TBR list is quite long and ultimately I do have a tendency to put aside the classics for more recent novels. Still, I appreciate Austen’s prose and work and, at the end of the day, I can honestly say I love her quite a lot.
So, what do you think of Jane Austen? Which Austen books have you read? Which is your favorite? Let me know in the comments! Happy reading!
