the caveThe Cave by Rob Hodgson is a cautionary tale, but not quite in the way that you’d expect. And while I would say that it’s entirely possible for you to guess at the twist that will appear through the course of this story, young kiddos likely wont and are bound to be shocked and amused about the turn of events that come with reading this book. In so many ways I couldn’t help finding the story of the little creature in the cave thoroughly amusing and I really got a kick out of the way that it ended. And overall, this book is genuinely just an incredibly adorable story with some of the cutest artwork I’ve ever seen in a kid’s book.

The book begins with a creature hidden inside his cave home and a wolf determined to get him to come out. While the wolf’s words and actions very much suggest a desire to play and be a friend, anyone who knows anything about wolves can be fairly certain that the wolf has ulterior motives that would not end well or in friendship for the little cave creature that he is so determined to bring out of the safety of his home. And, really, I can’t say much more than that without giving the story away but just know that it’s 100% worth reading. I enjoyed this one quite a lot and I know a lot of kids out there will, too.

I received a free copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
