Ahh, it’s so tough to skip over this one. I know I’m on a NetGalley ban, but the thing is that books like this give me so many feels. I have a massive amount of respect for the kinds of messages that books like this send. As a teacher, I’ve definitely had my fair share of experience with children and the truth is that a great many kids experience moments like this. I can even think of my niece and my boyfriends nephew acting in similar manners.
There’s so much benefit to children getting a chance to think introspective about their experiences and I genuinely feel like this book offers that. The thing is, I’ve waffled for a few weeks about whether or not to break my ban for this book. With the fact that the author is a counselor, I have a very strong suspicion that this book is going to be excellent.
Request But I NEED Your Help Now!?
Isaac is a second grader who struggles with waiting to be recognized by an adult. He’s a little impatient, and this can get him in trouble at school and in the world. When a tough problem has him stuck, Isaac blurts out. With patience, Isaac’s mom guides him through the steps of getting somebody’s attention, and she helps him with the problem. Isaac understands, but needs some practice! Isaac’s adventures continue at the store, at home, and at school, where the adults are there to teach him even more skills like how to interrupt the right way! Told in author Bryan Smith’s hallmark humorous style, follow Isaac as he learns how to wait his turn and to interrupt appropriately. This is the first book in a brand-new series by the award-winning author, counselor, and dad.
