the vanishing stairI never read Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson, but the blurb for The Vanishing Stair really makes me want to. The sequel sounds utterly amazing and while Maureen Johnson has been hit or miss for me for a while now–leaving me with some books that I adored deeply and couldn’t put down for even a second and others that I just found rather…dull, poorly written, and annoying–so I have no idea how I will feel about this series in particular. Part of the reason why I put off reading this series in the first place was due to my back and forth feelings on her various novels. But, I have to say, there’s just something about the way that this book is described that leaves me feeling as though it’s definitely one to enjoy.

Incorporating murders and mysteries with a rather fun, albeit annoying at times, trope of “getting alone with someone you hate,” this book has all the makings for a guilty pleasure read with quite a bit of excitement mixed in. I’m looking forward to picking this book up eventually, though I’ll have to read the first in the series before doing so. I hope it wont be too frustrating as this one sounds quite a bit more wonderful than the first one does.

What are your thoughts on this particular book? Will it be on your TBR? Have you read the first one? What did you think? Are you not interested and why? Let me know in the comments!

  1. I really loved the first novel in this series (though I was a bit disappointed with the ending), but I’m excited to read this next one. This series is the first of hers I’ve read though.
