When your boyfriend is sleeping on the couch and you really want to go out to see Love, Simon in theaters…what is the most acceptable way to wake him up and force him out of the door?

Basically, that’s what’s on my mind tonight as I’m sitting here writing out this post. Naturally, I figure I’m going to let him sleep, but unfortunately, that means we’re going to miss the 7:20 showing. It is what it is, I guess. Here’s hoping that I manage to get him to come along tonight because I just really wanna go see it and we haven’t been to the movies in ages. Ironically, it’s not even that he doesn’t want to see the movie, but rather that he wants to work more. I’ll never understand it.

On to the updates:

As far as this month’s readalong goes, I’ve not got much to say. I want to remind everyone to VOTE for the April Readalong Book, of course, because this is the best way to get a book you wanna read on the list (and remember, that book will end up being a choice in TWO giveaways hosted here on this blog!). Even if you don’t end up participating, it’s still a good way to help push for the chance to win a book you enjoy or want to read/own at some point. Also, I always try to include at least one or two lesser well-known authors in the choices, so that’s another piece to take into consideration when voting!

As always, the only rule for the readalongs is that you read the book with me. You don’t have to finish it if there is any reason that you can’t from not having the time or deciding you just don’t like the book, but if you want to be eligible for the 3 extra entries in the end of month giveaway, you have to at least start reading and comment on one of the Readalong posts, which can all be found on the Monthly Readalong page at the top of my blog (or the link that I’ve provided, but it’s good for you to know where it is at all times).

Books I’ve read:

Ah, I did really enjoy reading Wildcat by J.P. Harker and I’m sure if you’ve been around this blog for a bit, you’ll have seen a few posts about this book scattered around. I’ve not yet started its sequel, but I do also have a copy of that and will be reading it soon. The thing about Wildcat is that the book was pretty good, the plot was interesting and to my knowledge historically accurate in terms of how industrialized nations overtook those who weren’t, and overall it was a book I had fun reading. With that said, though, there were a number of problems which ultimately hurt the rating. I do think it a shame, but considering the fact that it is 2018, we really just shouldn’t be having some of these themes in books anymore…or at least, we should be addressing them extensively if we do. The Gender Game by Bella Forrest was rather fascinating. This book definitely had some lulls at points and I can’t say that I was overly fond of the characters or anything like that…but in spite of my decidedly minimal connection with them, I really enjoyed reading this book. It was pretty fast paced and the writing has a way of pulling readers in instantly from the very first page. I very nearly gave this book a low rating due to my own lack of strong emotion for the characters, however, the climax and end of this book impressed me so much that I ultimately decided it deserved a bit more credit. This book was impressive. Set in a world of Matrus and Patrus, where women rule on one side of the river and men rule on the other, this book pretty much takes gender ideals to the extreme. It’s a curious little novel that I think is definitely worth reading. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This last book, Happily by Chauncey Rogers, I finished reading last night. This is the first book that I’ll be featuring in a blog tour, which is pretty exciting for me as I’ve never done one before. There was only one thing that I didn’t really like in this book, and it was such a small thing, overshadowed by the sheer cleverness of the portrayal of the main character, that I couldn’t bring myself to really mind all that much. I’m honestly so thrilled and pleased that I got the chance to read this book and I think most people who pick it up probably will be, too! Stay on the lookout for a review and the future blog tour!
