Hello everyone and welcome to the April Readalong! I’m getting a little bit of a late start this month, but fortunately, we have some extra days for catching up at the end of the month anyway. I’m happy to have you all involved and beyond excited to begin this month’s Reader Fox Readalong! We’re going to be reading The Wendy by Erin Michelle Sky and Steven Brown so if you haven’t gotten yourself a copy just yet, please do so! I’ve included some links below for easy access though you don’t have to buy from those specific sources if you find the book elsewhere.
Barnes and Noble
Amazon
Autographed Copies
In an effort to improve the readalongs, things are going to be a little bit different this time around. The timeline and rules regarding reading are the same. In the course of four weeks this month, we’ll read in increments of 25%. None of you have to follow the timeline as it is more of a guide. To participate all you have to do is read the book. No, you do not have to finish reading it if you don’t like it. You don’t even have to finish if you don’t have time, but you do have to at least start the book.
What’s new:
Twitter: So, I’m pretty bad at Twitter, but I’ve decided to start including it in the readalong not only to get more people involved but to increase the fun and give everyone the chance to chat and meet with fellow readers who are participating. For that reason, I’m creating a hashtag. So, if you’re participating in the Reader Fox Readalong, simply include #RFReadalong in your tweets!
Sign-Ups: In the past in order to get the 3 extra giveaway entries for the book giveaway that comes at the end of the month, I’ve merely had people comment below to say that they’re participating. This time we’re gonna use Google Forms!
I’ll follow anyone who joins the Readalong and I encourage everyone participating to do the same! I really want this to become something that allows us to interact with each other while reading, so please make use of the platforms you can! You can enter below or click the link to enter on a different page. And you can edit your percentage as you go!
You can see who’s participating here!
Please feel free to follow each other, to chat about the book, update your progress on Twitter, and whatever else you think would make the Readalong more fun. As always, I’m open to ideas and suggestions and remember there is a giveaway that will be held at the end of the month and you get three extra entries for participating.
Reviews: Ideally, you should write a review for the book sometime after the readalong has finished. Reviews are good for extra entries into the giveaways (and you can use a review for any book that has been featured in a readalong this year). Additionally, for one week following the end of the readalong, I will feature the blogs/twitter/Goodreads accounts on this blog for anyone who has written a review.
There will eventually be a form to submit your review near the end of the readalong and will also be available on the Monthly Readalong page. The review does not have to be positive or negative. It doesn’t have to be long. It should just be your honest opinion of the book. Reviews help both readers and authors and I’d love it if you all could write one.
Timeline:
April 1st: Begin the book.
April 8th: 25% or page 70
April 15th: 50% or page 140
April 22: 75% or page 210
April 29: Finish line!
May 6th: This is the last day to submit a review of the book that I will feature on this blog.
This leaves a little bit of extra time at the end just in case you don’t finish on time. I was late reaching a milestone once last month, so really don’t feel bad if you aren’t following the timeline. It’s just a tool to use if you choose to.
Happy reading, everyone!
